BYD has unveiled its newest electric SUV, the Titanium 3, in China, with a starting price of $18,300. Known as the Tai 3 in its home market, this model is the first in BYD’s new Titanium series, designed for young buyers seeking an affordable yet premium SUV.
The Titanium 3 is also the first fully electric vehicle from Fang Cheng Bao, a BYD sub-brand that previously offered two hybrid SUVs since 2023. Internationally, Fang Cheng Bao vehicles are sold under Denza, BYD’s premium label.
Stylish Design and Practical Features
Unlike many SUVs with boxy shapes, the Titanium 3 features a sculpted, chiselled design. Its unibody chassis makes it ideal as a family SUV, offering a smoother ride compared to traditional off-road vehicles with ladder frames. Buyers can choose from five versions: two rear-wheel drive and three four-wheel drive models.
Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo+, the Titanium 3 combines style with comfort. The intelligent all-terrain system automatically adjusts drive modes for grass, mud, snow, and sand, making it easy for inexperienced drivers to handle rough roads.
Unique Drone Feature for Adventure Seekers
The highlight of the top-tier 4WD Drone Version is a deployable DJI Air 3S drone mounted on the roof rack. This feature is unique among SUVs. Drivers can launch the drone when the vehicle is stationary or moving at speeds below 25 km/h.
The drone captures 4K videos and AI-assisted high-resolution photos. It can scout the terrain ahead, find safe routes, and provide aerial views—especially useful for off-road adventures. After use, the drone returns to its hangar for recharging.
Strong Performance with Advanced Technology
The Titanium 3 offers an impressive range of 420 km. The 4WD version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 201 km/h. Despite weighing over two tonnes, the vehicle supports fast charging from 30% to 80% in only 18 minutes using a 237 kW charger.
BYD’s God’s Eye driver assistance system (ADAS) is included, using cameras and radars for automated parking, obstacle avoidance, and highway navigation. Safety is enhanced with a tire stability control system that keeps the vehicle steady during a tire blowout at speeds above 80 km/h.
Additionally, the adaptive suspension system ensures a comfortable ride on all terrains.
Launch and Global Prospects
Deliveries of the Titanium 3 began in April 2025 in China. While there is no official date for its global release, it is likely the SUV will be launched internationally under the Denza brand, following the pattern of other Fang Cheng Bao models.
