German autonomous drone manufacturer Quantum Systems has raised €160 million in Series C funding, the company announced. The round was led by UK-based venture capital firm Balderton Capital.
The funding will be used to advance research and development in AI-powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), boost manufacturing capacity, and expand the company’s global footprint across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Quantum Systems builds dual-use drones designed for reconnaissance missions. Its UAVs are widely used in defense, agriculture, mining, and infrastructure monitoring. The company has secured government contracts in countries including the United States, Colombia, Australia, Germany, Spain, and Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, said total investment in Quantum Systems has now reached €310 million. He confirmed that the company’s valuation has surpassed $1 billion, officially making it a tech unicorn.
Fedorov highlighted that Quantum Systems has been part of Ukraine’s Diia.City tech initiative since 2023. The program allows foreign companies to set up operations within the country.
“Quantum Systems is actively developing in Ukraine and has launched drone production here,” Fedorov said. “Their drones have been supporting our defense efforts since May 2022.”
