Pakistan Says It Shot Down 25 Indian Drones in Escalating Border Tensions

Pakistan’s military announced Thursday that it shot down 25 Indian drones overnight, revising an earlier count of 12. The drones, identified as Israeli-made Harop models, were brought down in several areas across the country, including major cities such as Karachi and Lahore.

Military spokesperson Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry accused India of repeatedly violating Pakistani airspace, calling it a “naked act of aggression.”

One civilian was killed in the southern Sindh province’s Ghotki district during the drone incidents, he said.

India has imported $2.9 billion worth of military equipment from Israel over the past 10 years, including surveillance and combat drones, radars, and missiles.

“Debris is being collected from all impact sites,” said Chaudhry during a press briefing.

He confirmed that Pakistani forces shot down the drones in multiple locations including Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Attock, Ghotki, Gujranwala, and Chakwal. More cities were also involved, but not all were named.

The military claims that India has continued to send drones into Pakistani territory following recent cross-border missile strikes. However, Pakistan says it is intercepting and neutralizing the drones one by one.

“India is paying dearly, and will continue to pay dearly for this naked aggression,” Chaudhry warned.
