A series of explosions rocked Kyiv overnight on May 4 as Russia launched a drone attack on the Ukrainian capital, local authorities reported.
At least 11 people were injured, including two children aged 14 and 17, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. He shared the update via his official Telegram channel.
Debris from the drones caused widespread damage across the city. Several homes and cars were hit in the Shevchenkivskyi, Obolonskyi, and Svyatoshynskyi districts. In Obolonskyi, a fire broke out on the top floors of a high-rise building, and seven vehicles were damaged near the Dream Town shopping mall.
Emergency services responded quickly to the affected areas.
This attack is part of a recent increase in Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities. In the past few weeks, Russia has targeted civilians in Kryvyi Rih, Sumy, Odesa, Kharkiv, and now Kyiv, causing numerous injuries and deaths.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed a three-day ceasefire from May 7 to 9 to coincide with Russia’s Victory Day celebrations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected the offer, calling it a “theatrical performance” aimed at improving Russia’s international image and gaining political advantage.
