Walmart Expands Drone Delivery Service to Five States, Offering Rapid Delivery of Personal Care Items

by Belinda

Walmart has extended its drone delivery service to five states—Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas—allowing customers in select cities to receive items, including personal care products, in under 30 minutes.

The service is now active in the cities of Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. Since launching in 2021, Walmart has successfully completed over 150,000 drone deliveries. The drones are delivering a wide variety of products, including health and wellness items such as over-the-counter medicines, baby formula, and COVID-19 test kits.

Among the most frequently delivered items are household essentials like eggs, pet food, fresh produce, and personal care products. This expansion is part of Walmart’s continued investment in alternative delivery methods, particularly in urban and suburban areas where the company already has high-volume stores.

In Texas, the drone operations are powered by Zipline’s P2 drones, which began service earlier this year in Mesquite and Waxahachie.

Walmart’s drone delivery service highlights the increasing demand for fast access to everyday consumer goods, including personal care and wellness products. This trend could have an impact on fulfillment expectations for suppliers in the health and beauty sector and may affect product availability in last-mile logistics. The move also puts pressure on other mass retailers to reduce delivery times.
