Taiwan and Japan Boost Drone Industry Ties at Japan Drone 2025 Conference

A delegation from the Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance (TEDIBOA), based in Taichung City, is attending the Japan Drone 2025 expo in Chiba, Japan. The event runs through June 6 and highlights drone applications in disaster prevention, relief, and logistics.

According to a press release from the Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), TEDIBOA is led by chair Hu Kai-hong. The group aims to promote collaboration between Taiwan and Japan in drone technology and business.

At the event, Hu signed a memorandum of understanding with Yasuhiro Senda, executive vice president of the Japan UAS Industrial Development Association. The signing was witnessed by Lee Yi-yang, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Japan, and Chien Chih-wei, director of the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ aerospace industry promotion panel.

AIDC stated that the agreement is designed to strengthen long-term cooperation in drone technology and help Taiwanese drone products enter the Japanese market more efficiently.

The partnership builds on each country’s strengths. Japan is known for its expertise in automatic control and precision machinery, while Taiwan has advantages in semiconductors, information security, system integration, and manufacturing. According to AIDC, this collaboration will span technology development, market sharing, and new applications.

Bilateral engagement between Taiwan and Japan began earlier this year when members of the Japan Drone Consortium visited Taiwan in March to study its research and manufacturing capabilities.

Senda expressed hope that the two sides would continue to explore opportunities for integrating their supply chains in future business discussions.
