Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday that Russia and Belarus will collaborate to create a joint aviation factory that will focus on manufacturing drones and other aviation products. The announcement came during a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the Russian city of Volgograd.
Putin highlighted that the two countries plan to set up a specialized drone laboratory as part of the new factory. “We are prepared to jointly establish a factory along with your experts,” he said.
The partnership builds on the long history of aircraft cooperation between Russia and Belarus, which dates back to the Soviet era. Putin emphasized that both countries have a strong foundation in collaborative aircraft projects.
The two leaders also discussed expanding their partnership into additional sectors, with ongoing efforts by their governments to finalize new agreements.
