Quadsat Launches QS RF Locator to Accelerate Satellite Interference Detection

by Belinda

Quadsat has launched the QS RF Locator, a cutting-edge solution designed to precisely locate sources of radio frequency (RF) interference. The new product will serve both commercial and military satellite communications sectors, helping them quickly identify and fix signal disruption issues.

The system builds on Quadsat’s existing antenna testing and measurement technology and offers what the company calls “last-mile geolocation.” Traditional methods often narrow down interference to an area spanning hundreds of square kilometers. The QS RF Locator then takes over to pinpoint the exact location of the interference.

Using advanced interference-hunting algorithms, the drone-mounted Quadsat payload scans the radio spectrum. As more data is collected, the system becomes increasingly accurate in locating the signal’s source.

The new feature is part of the broader Quadsat system, which includes compact tools for antenna testing and radio frequency equipment verification in real-world environments.

Lars Bach, Quadsat’s Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the importance of speed and accuracy in addressing interference.

“Interference can be extremely harmful, causing downtime and potential revenue loss,” Bach said. “Geolocation is effective, but current methods are slow. With our drone system, we can find the source much faster, allowing our customers to resolve issues in record time.”

The QS RF Locator marks another step forward in Quadsat’s mission to simplify and enhance RF testing and diagnostics for satellite operators worldwide.
